With a passion to support and raise her family, there is no question as to why LaCheye Hekekia wakes up each and every morning to take on the challenges of motherhood and running her own business. Class of 2004 Kalaheo Graduate, Hekekiaʻs many years of experience in residential cleaning. After graduation she would later learn the responsibility and advantages of owning her own business. Although at times, finding balance in her busy life can be hard, she does it all for her family.
Hekekia will often spend hours on end utilizing her supplies and focus on completing each job to the best of her abilities. As a business owner, she is able to create her own schedule for her jobs which is beneficial to her as a parent. She is also able to network and connect with people from various walks of life, an aspect she says is not only important for the growth of business but also for the growth of self.
Her story shows that no matter your job title, as long as you have the will to work hard and be there for your family, that is where true success lies. Her final advice to students going through trials or feeling stuck in life , she urged them to live a life that they want and be determined to fight for whatever that is. “Start young and be sure to stay on the track that you really want.”. But no matter what the importance comes into continuing obligations in order to provide for the ones you love most.
