Vision Statement

The vision of the Andover Public Schools Libraries is to prepare our students to be skilled consumers of information and self-directed learners. The Library Media Program provides students with the resources to become independent critical readers, thinkers, and lifelong researchers, fluent in the various strategies of information seeking.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Andover Public Schools library media program is to function as the

information center of the school; to provide the school community with resources and research skills; to enable the school community through resources and skills to become life-long readers and learners.

Massachusetts Children’s Book Award honors books that promote reading for pleasure among students 4th-6th grade. Each year, they release a list of 25 nominees from which MA students pick their favorite!

MCBA is sponsored by Salem State University. 

Criteria for the MCBA nominee list includes publication within the last 5 years and of interest to middle grade students.
