As a parent, it can be a challenge to understand how everything works at a big, busy school like MS 51. This is where the Parent Association comes in. We are both your voice in the school and a type of “information booth” for asking questions, finding out what needs to be done, and getting involved to make it happen.
We need your help. Please look at the notices that come home and are posted on the website for upcoming PA meetings and events. It’s a great way to get to know the school faculty and other parents in the community. If you speak another language, please let PA officers know so your skills will be used to reach out to other parents. You can also stay informed by attending the monthly PA meetings, checking your e-mail mailbox for our newsletter, obtaining information from the PA center in the main office. Please contact PTA officers with your questions and suggestions.

Do you want to support your child's talent program? Help teachers purchase materials that facilitate student learning? Be able to see how your child is doing through an online grading system? Those are just some of the initiatives at MS 51 that are funded through the PA. The best way to support these and other programs is to support the PA.

Student Issues Committee: We are now seeking patient volunteers to join the Student Issues Committee. Within this parent group, we plan to address initial topics of homework and discipline through joint discussion; e.g., concern over lunchtime detentions. We will jointly determine how to frame suggestions and policy reviews to the administration and determine the best forum to address the administration.
Please send an email with Student Issues Committee in the subject and we will email you with details to: middleschool51PA@gmail.com
Bylaws Committee: According to the Chancellor's regulations all bylaws must be review and updated every 3 years. We are looking for parent volunteers to be a part of this committee. Email the PA if you are interested in being a part of this committee: email@example.com
