Humanity Primary/Junior High School

About Us

Humanity Primary/Junior High School, located in Yilan County, is one of the first public-private partnership charter schools to operate under this unique model. Under the leadership of Professor Yang Wengui since 2003, the school has been implementing and promoting the Nature Nurturing (ZhanFu) Education philosophy, by replacing traditional curricula with developmental goals-based/development-based learning, which covers four developmental stages from 6 to 15 years old. Such philosophy centers around "people," including parents, educators, and, most importantly, every child in the school.

Beyond academics, the school focuses on the holistic development of its students. The school places great emphasis on students' internal learning and development, such as emotions, interpersonal communication, self-awareness, and collaboration. The school encourages close cooperation between the two main spheres of influence in each student's life, the school and the family. The creation of the collaborative culture is based on human development and the two main axes of "character cultivation" and "talent development," helping parents receive support in the process of raising their children and ensuring that teachers are not alone in their educational efforts.

Ultimately, the school aims to nurture well-rounded individuals who possess not only academic skills but also essential life skills and values to thrive in the modern world. To achieve this, the school encourages students to explore, face challenges, and transcend themselves. Through continuous learning, students can appreciate their lives, families, and land, achieve mental and physical balance, satisfaction, and happiness, and ultimately become responsible citizens who can contribute positively to society.

Curriculum at  School

From the perspective of its students, Humanity designs practical and life-oriented courses tailored to meet their individual needs. Beginning from the first grade, students are introduced to diverse corner courses that offer the opportunity to choose and explore a field of interest in an open learning environment. The school also offers continual opportunities for dialogue and feedback, which enables students to challenge and surpass themselves throughout their academic journey consistently. Daily activities such as hiking, sea exploration, baking, and surfing give students a unique learning experience at Humanity. The school's nurturing environment and challenging curriculum promote student growth and learning, while instilling confidence in accordance with their individual talents. The school's philosophy emphasizes that there is no such thing as failure, only new discoveries.

Highlight of Teachers

At Humanity, teachers frequently engage with students at their level, often by squatting down to speak with them or gathering around a table for meals, chats, and discussions. This dedication also extends beyond the classroom, with teachers regularly teaching students problem-solving skills during break time and discussing parenting methods with parents after school. The Humanity teachers prioritize listening to students' thoughts and accompanying them through the challenges and successes of their growth. With their passion for teaching and learning, they exemplify lifelong learning through their continuous exploration and self-realization, setting a positive example for their students. Indeed, teachers at Humanity understand that education is grounded upon love and role models. They have created a space for free learning, promoting their students' happiness and future success and recognizing that the school exists to facilitate learning.

Highlight of Students

Humanity School encourages students to embrace their individuality and pursue their interests and passions. From the first to the ninth grade, students have the freedom to design their own curriculum and learn at their own pace. This student-centric approach to education enables Humanities students to become confident, independent thinkers and learners with strong communication skills. The teachers at Humanities emphasize the importance of self-reflection, and students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning by making their own decisions. At Humanity, each student is recognized as a unique individual with their own learning style and strengths. This personalized approach to education fosters a positive and nurturing environment that helps students develop into well-rounded individuals capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
