My name is Kelly Weeks, and I am excited to be teaching at Juab High School as the CTE Welding Instructor. I grew up in Vernal, moved to Kaysville for my junior year, and graduated from Davis High. I then attended Snow College where I met my wife. We both attended Utah State afterward.
Shortly after leaving Cache Valley, I picked up work at Barclay Mechanical Services in Manti and spent seven years learning to bend, shape, machine, and weld steel in a wide variety of applications. I then spent three years working for Horizon Metals here in Nephi where I was the QA Manager. Working at the foundry allowed me to learn more about metallurgy and the testing processes that go along with the casting process. I was able to weld an even wider variety of metals there including cast irons, duplex stainless steels, tool steels, and brass/bronze. My own hobbies include wrestling with my kids, camping, knife-making, and reading.
Having gone the long way around, my wife and I have moved into Nephi with our three children. We are thrilled to be here, and I hope that my industry experience will help students better understand the welding process and its applications.
