JOURNEY

PEDIATRIC

REHABILITATION

Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on helping children develop the skills they need to grow into functional, independent adults. The primary focus of infants, toddlers and young children are playing, learning, and interacting with caregivers and peers. The primary occupations of older children and teens are integrating educational instruction in and outside of school, forming and maintaining productive friendships and beginning the transition to work, independent living, and higher education.

Journey Pediatric Rehabilitation was established in June 2004, by experienced occupational therapists specializing in sensory processing disorders (SPD), autism, learning difficulties, handwriting, and other neurological/neuromuscular disorders.

Parent Testimonials

"My son came to Journey Pediatric Rehabilitation with high anxiety, frustration and restlessness in his abilities to perform in academic and social settings. Within weeks of starting the program we noticed him becoming more focused, more confident and less impulsive while enjoying himself during therapy. Choosing Journey was the best decision we could've made for him!"

"Ms. Mary and Journey completely turned our lives around. My son, now 2, was delayed and struggling in every part of his development and no one could tell us why; our family was lost, suffering and worrying about our boy's future. We were referred to Ms. Mary when our son was 19 months old and after a long and detailed evaluation, she was able to finally give us a name for what was going on and immediately started a treatment plan. In just 4 short months, our boy is almost fully caught up to his peers. He loves going to Occupational Therapy. Ms. Mary makes him work while having fun and feeling safe. Through her extensive knowledge and experience, her kind and patient manner, she not only treated our son and helped him develop and thrive, but also healed our family as a whole as we learned how to work with our special child as first time parents. Her passion and dedication to kids is evident, and her incredible talent in her profession makes her seem like a miracle worker, and for our family, Ms. Mary and Journey have been in fact a miracle."

"If I were forced to pick the top intervention that brought about the most change in Mallie's progress, it would be Mary. Not only for the professional treatment and techniques she utilized from her repertoire and equipment, but also for what she taught me as a mom. We made the 45-minute drive twice a week for almost 8 years, and it was worth every mile. She taught Mallie how to jump rope, tie her shoelaces, ride a bike, and write in the most beautiful cursive that Mallie still uses today. I will never forget the smiles she could bring out in Mallie, the Old McDonald game for my then farm-animal obsessed child, and of course the love and excitement Mary felt for every one of Mallie's steps toward growth. Mallie is now 16, drives a car, and has a meaningful job. We love Mary!"

"My son has Dysgraphia and was struggling with handwriting and other aspects of everyday learning at school. After working with Rachel, school has become less stressful for him (and us) and he has improved tremendously. Both Mary and Rachel are AMAZING at what they do and truly care about the growth and success of each child who comes through those doors. They partner with you and give you advice on what you can do at home to increase learning as well. My son actually ENJOYS his Occupational Therapy and it doesn't feel like more "school" to him. We are so beyond grateful for Journey!"
