Another Silver Rush has concluded, led by Riverton High School’s Student Body President Seth Christensen (12). Riverton High School students worked for 19 days to fundraise for We Give Hope. For The We Give Hope foundation, RHS fundraised $257,300.26! This will help provide “giving trees” as well as mental health support to countless families in Utah!
The group Riverton is donating to is in our very own district! The Mental Health Access Program (MHAP) is a program designed to provide students and families throughout the district with mental health support that they wouldn’t be able to get access to otherwise. Services like therapy can be life changing to those who need it and our donations can now help more people get the help they need.
One of the many fun traditions of Silver Rush and the closing assembly is the muffin contest. Every day of Silver Rush, students could buy a muffin for $2. This contest, whether people know it exists or not, is a way to recognize the person who bought the most muffins during silver rush. With more than 800 muffins sold and over $2,400 raised, This year the title of muffin royalty went to Oak Burgett (12) who bought a whopping 160 muffins! That is $320 spent on just muffins alone.
A Giving Hope representative came to see the closing assembly and was not disappointed. In his speech, he talked about how blown away they are with the energy Riverton students have. A representative of MHAP said the Silver Rush donations would go a long way to benefit students like the Riverton student body.
Last but certainly not least, Christensen gave a speech, too. Seth exclaimed, “I love you. We love you. I promise you, if you ever need help, there is always someone there to catch you. I love you, go Wolves.”
