Riverton High School’s Music Dance Theatre class (MDT) performed Time: A Broadway Revue on January 7 and 9, 2026. The Broadway revue is an annual showcase of many broadway songs that the class has been taught throughout the semester. It’s an opportunity for them to hone their skills and show their peers what they’ve learned. This year they were joined by pianist, singer, teacher and alumnus Kelly DeHaan. DeHaan attended RHS and the MDT class was honoured to perform with him.
These revues are a collection of songs from different broadway shows that the students perform. Every student gets their chance to shine as there are songs with the whole class, individual songs, and small group songs. The students dance and act to every song, and sing many of them. These revues don’t follow a central story but they still do have a theme; this year’s revue was themed around time. It had songs set in different time periods and it started and ended with songs from a very famous movie-turned-musical about time, The Notebook. It also included songs from brand new musicals and classics, young and old working together to create a masterpiece.

This revue was very important personally for the students as well. They worked on this performance for six months to make it as good as it could be. It gave them the chance to show their peers how hard they’ve worked this year.
“The review is the pinnacle of the work MDT does”, said Andrew Chapman (12). This performance will also be on the students' portfolios for college and their resumes for jobs to show their abilities. Most importantly, the MDT students have a lot of fun putting the show together. “It’s just fun”, explained Chapman.
The MDT class that performs these revues is an audition class full of talented students. In order to join MDT, students must be able to sing, dance and act. The students work tirelessly on their performances, in and outside the classroom. Trenton Lowe (12) suggested that all students “shoot your shot, audition. Sometimes you don't know how talented you are until you try.” MDT has many performances throughout the year but the broadway revue continues to be one of their most popular.
