About The Academies at Jonesboro High School
The mission of the Academies at Jonesboro High School is to provide a high quality, research-based education for all students in order to equip them with the essential skills necessary to be successful in today’s changing global community. Through strong partnerships with business and community stakeholders, the Academies at Jonesboro High School will ensure high achievement in all subjects through an expanded curriculum and the use of data-driven methods to evaluate and implement proven instructional strategies. The Academies at JHS will foster respect for global diversity and maintain a commitment to create exceptional opportunities for the educational growth of every child.
Announcements and Upcoming Events:
CONGRATULATIONS to the Volleyball team for advancing to the State Finals. There will be 2 pep buses leaving for Hot Springs on Saturday, October 27th at 1PM Anyone wanting to ride the pep bus will need to pay $5, get a permission slip from the front office, and be at the JHS gym by 12:45PM on Saturday, October 27th with a signed permission slip.
The Student Council, HOSA, and JHS Food Pantry will host the Boys & Girls Basketball team BLACK & GOLD event on Tuesday, October 30th from 5:30-7PM. The entry fee will be canned goods or hygiene items.
The academy offices will be accepting donations to help feed the hungry of Northeast Arkansas through the Fill-the-Food Bank Drive. Please stop by your academy office, contribute a dollar (or more!) and receive an "I DONATED" can to hang on the wall outside of the office. A SINGLE DOLLAR can provide FOUR MEALS! So, anything and everything counts in this drive.
JHS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams finished 2nd at the 5A East Conference Meet yesterday. Individually, Sara Steimel won the individual Conference championship finishing first out of 49 girls. Jescina Droughn finished 3rd and Rena Cruz finished 9th. For the boys: Damion Brown finished 4th, D'Mareon Daniels 6th. The Cross Country team will finish their season next week at the 5A State Meet Friday November 2nd.
JHS Girls Basketball team is selling Fan Cloth gear (clothing, backpacks, coffee tumblers, etc). See any girls basketball player, Coach Battles (Rm B213), or Coach Christenberry (Rm A215) if you would like to purchase anything. The deadline to place an order is November 8th.
The Miss Hurricane Pageant will be held on Tuesday, November 27th in the JHS Performing Arts Center at 6 PM. Please see Mrs.Cordell (f/k/a Mrs. Fortner), Mrs. Isbill, Ms. Mashburn, or Mrs. McCanless for an entry form. The entry forms are due by November 9th.
The next ACT Prep class will be on Saturday, December 1st. You can pick up a registration form in the main office or outside Mrs. Darby's Room A117.
ANNOUNCEMENT FROM PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE: Students, please have your student ID out and ready to show if you are tardy and/or checking in at any time at the front office window to assist with accurate check-in. You should always have your student ID with you. Replacement ID’s are $5.00. To have one made, you will need to see Mrs. Cook or Ms. Jones in the library.
