Dear Parent/Carers,
Next week we will be preparing for the next cycle of admission to the school. This begins with the first of our open evenings. I am delighted to report that even at this early juncture we have sold out all tickets for my initial address. If you have not been able to obtain a ticket or know someone who has not been able to get a ticket it is still perfectly fine to come to have a tour of the school on the evening.
Year 11 are also beginning to hear the wake up call of only 26 school weeks before the examinations start. Last week Aylesbury college gave a presentation on their pathway in assembly and in a few weeks time we will have the second of our open evenings for entrance into our sixth form. Year 11 mock interviews are also on the horizon.
Mobile pouches continue to be effective but please remember that our policy states that devices must be turned off. If an alarm goes off the device will be confiscated and in line with our policy will need to be collected on the next Friday.
We are very proud of our students in and out of school so we are always disappointed when they let us down. We had an incident on the bus last week where a student pierced an aerosol can. This caused some distress and was obviously very dangerous. We have also had an issue with a small number of students at about 8.00am in the morning who are regularly causing a nuisance outside the sheltered housing. We have engaged the local community police regarding this anti-social behavior and when the students are identified we will contact parent/carers and apply sanctions accordingly. Please remind your child/children that there are part of a rich and diverse community and good manners and conduct are expected everywhere in line with the norm.
And in our JCS community our gardeners are in full growth mode, sports clubs have been extremely well attended, music is buzzing at lunchtime and next week sees our production of ‘School Of Rock’ taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Take Care - Ian Brierly
