For me, Bearing Witness begins with attention.
It means slowing down long enough to notice the light breaking through the clouds, the movement of wildlife at the edge of a field, the story unfolding in an ordinary moment, or the quiet ways creation points beyond itself to its Creator.
The camera has become one way of learning to see. The words are another.
Both begin with the same invitation:
Pay attention.
Like the image above. At first, it's simply a piece of deadwood in a lake. Then you begin to see something else. This photo literally rewards our attention: at first, yes it's just deadwood; then you begin to see something else. What do you see?
