1 John 4:1-6
The truth and those who know it. There are many voices in the world today, few of them are hearing the voice of God plainly given in His word. As Bible believing Christians, we have the actual voice of God recorded for us and our loving Father/Creator wants us to listen to Him. Being committed to the voice of God is going to become less and less popular in the days ahead.
1 John 4:7-11
Love and those who practice it. All around us are the terms “love and hate.” The culture has redefined these terms in their favor. Love no longer means a giving of yourself for another but love now means to accept people wherever they are in their sinful lives. God has clearly defined love for us and calls both into His love and into giving out His love.
1 John 4:12-16
Seeing, confessing, and abiding in Christ. Everything we do is by faith not by sight. So, when we accept Christ by faith, He abides in us and makes His love perfect in us. All whose eyes have been opened to see the unseen God profess Him and He then abides in them. God’s presence is evidenced by His love through us to others.
1 John 4:17-19
Love, boldness in judgment, casting out of fear, He first loved us. Causes of fear are all around us. Fear brings paralysis to faith and to life. God takes away the cause of our fear and calls us to live apart from it. None of us need be crippled by fear on any level when we know the eternal nature of God’s love to us causing us to return that love to Him.
1 John 4:20-5:5
Love and hate together is impossible under God’s commands, all loved will love. Anyone who professes God’s love but then hates is a liar. All born of God through Christ will love for we have the begotten One in us who has begotten us to the Father through love. Victory in this life is the result of believing in Christ, loving through the Father, and keeping the commands to love others and to love God.
