The Kentucky Online Testing (KYOTE) placement testing system provides free online placement exams that measure preparedness for college level learning in mathematics, reading and writing. KYOTE placement exams are accepted as indicators of college readiness by all public colleges and universities in Kentucky
At Southern, students who have not yet achieved benchmark scores are given the opportunity to do so through the KYOTE placement tests. These are given multiple times throughout the year and are given during the school day.
Southern High School cannot send your KYOTE scores to your school. They will not show up on your transcript. The only way your college/university will have access to your KYOTE scores is if you send them electronically using the steps below.
Logon to www.kyote.org and click on Student Login. Enter your last name, school email, and password. Click Login. (If you have forgotten your password, try your JCPS password. If that doesn’t work, click on Forgot your password? Your password can be recovered using your student number and email address.)
Click on View Placement Results. The results of any exams you have taken are displayed on the Placement Exam Results page.
Click on Send Results for the exam you want to send and check the displayed colleges or universities to which you want to submit these results. Then click on Submit. The message “Colleges updated successfully” will appear at the top of the page.
The exam result(s) you submit and the colleges to which you submit them can be changed at any time by repeating this process.
All submissions of the exam you select will also be permitted.
If you take it later and pass or get a higher score than before, you will want to repeat this process to send the newest version of the test.
If you need access to your student account and can't remember your login info, please click the link on the right and complete the form. Please allow 1-2 school days to receive a response.
