Cost Per Copy (CPC) or Cost Per Page (CPP) are common methods of billing for the use of a copier or printer. It is derived from the total counter that displays the number of copies or prints made on the device. Much like the odometer on an automobile, the total counter provides an industry specific reference to determine the lifecycle of the device. Color models provide a further breakdown of monochrome and color counts as well as a total. This is due to the difference in cost of a monochrome copy/print and a color copy/print.
The CPC/CPP rate typically includes the cost of the service, parts, and supplies but excludes paper. This benefits the consumer by providing a consistent cost for every page generated and removing the unpredictable costs of service and supplies. It also raises awareness of the cost associated with each page generated. Maintenance agreements with a CPC/CPP are typically billed monthly, quarterly, or annually. This allows you to budget based on your usage during that time period. Below are some examples of cost per page:
Monochrome (Black & White) :
$.004 CPC/CPP x 100,000 copies = $400.00
$.006 CPC/CPP x 50,000 copies = $300.00
Color:
$.045 CPC/CPP x 10,000 = $450.00
