The MTSS Behavior Department supports schools in implementing school-wide behavior systems and frameworks. The two frameworks used by JCPS are Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and the Behavior Support Systems Model, which is an alignment of PBIS and Restorative Practices. In addition, the team supports school personnel in understanding and utilizing classroom management strategies.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day.
In JCPS, schools apply and are selected to receive whole-school Restorative Practices training (RP) which allows them to implement the Behavior Support Systems Model. This training teaches the theory behind RP as well as the practices themselves. The goal is to have all schools trained and implementing by 2025.

The behavior intervention grid is a tool that allows you to select a specific student behavior. It will then ask a series of questions which then direct the user to a list of suggested interventions as well as explanations of the interventions.
