Coach Durant joined The PRIDE, coming from Butler Traditional High School. In his second stint with the Bears he served as Defensive Coordinator during the ‘21 and ‘22 seasons. In just two seasons, Coach Durant helped Butler improve from an average of 55 points per loss in 2020, to 30.5 ppg in 2022 -- only 22.2 ppg were given up by the defense.

Coach Durant began his coaching career, at Ballard HS in 2015 were he served as the defensive line coach, and freshman defensive coordinator in 2015. Within the next three years he became the varsity defensive coordinator. In 2018, under Coach Durant Ballard had top 25 scoring defense, and lead it's district in sacks, led by Jimmy Edmonds with 13.5 sacks.

 When the Lions kicked-off its first high school varsity season against Thomas Nelson HS in 2023, Coach Durant was on the sidelines leading the team as the program's first head football coach. Starting with 17 players in 2023, Durant and staff grew the program to over 40 players by the end of the 2025 season. 

After Ballard, Coach Durant joined the Butler Bears staff as the wide receivers coach, and co-special teams coordinator (coaching the kick-off return and punt return units) in 2018. He helped lead a very explosive passing attack, coaching the #4 and #8 in receiving yards in class 6A (2018). In the same season, his receiving corps had two double digit touchdown catchers. Being responsible for kick-off return, and punt return units, combined, those units return 6 total kicks for touchdowns. Notables players from this season: Demontae Crums, Jordan Watkins, Antwan Shaw and Frank Caldwell.

Originally from St. Petersburg, FL, Coach Durant played at the University of Louisville from 2009-13, and earned a bachelor's degree in Sport Administration. In a 2013 publication The Courier Journal quoted third round NFL draft pick Preston Brown, saying Coach Durant was the “Brains of the Linebackers” during his playing days in college. In his time as a Cardinal he helped them win three out of 4 bowl games, including the 2013 Sugar Bowl vs the Florida Gators, and back to back Big East Conference championships. 

Coach Durant has three children. Isaiah 11, Rishi (Ri-shi) 7, and Cayson 6.
