Understanding the MAP Growth Assessment
MAP is being administered remotely in the Fall of 2020. Your data will be connected to other learning programs (e.g., Exact Path, Study Island) in order to provide customized learning paths for you in reading and math.
MAP is a computer adaptive assessment that is used to determine your instructional readiness level. This means as you answer questions correctly, questions get harder. If you answer them incorrectly, questions get easier. You are not expected to get all of the answers correct. Just do your best!
This is a test, but it is also a tool for your teacher to know what you are ready to learn. It will not be graded.
You should not use outside resources (Internet, books, friends, family) for help during the MAP unless you have technical issues. Then, contact Ms. Collins or Ms. Dermody. (Info Below)
You will see a variety of questions (around 50) that are selected based on your score from the last time you took MAP (your RIT Score).
The MAP test will take between 45-60 minutes. (for each test)
2) Planning for Remote MAP Testing
Scheduling
Test Window ??? (Grades 3-5). See schedule for exact day and time.
Teachers/ Proctors will schedule a time for you to test and communicate that with you and your family.
Teachers/ Proctors will create and assign test sessions and give you the name as well as the code
Plan to find a quiet spot where you can focus on the assessment with limited distractions on test day
If you have a 504 or IEP, confirm with the teacher that your testing accommodations are in place.
3) Preparing: Be ready for test day
If you have access to your previous MAP score (RIT) know what they are!
Practice Tests Password: grow Username: grow (optional resource)
Parent/ Student Resources: https://start.nwea.org/
4) Preparing Devices: Make sure your computer/ device is ready to go for test day
Recommended browsers are Chrome, Firefox or Safari
5) Taking the MAP Growth test Remotely
Confirm that the chosen communication platform - Google Meets/ Google Classroom is working. This is how you will communicate with the teacher/ proctor during the assessment.
You will receive the test session name and password from your teacher/ proctor prior to the test through your communication platform
You will go here: https://test.mapnwea.org to take the MAP Test, find your name, put in your test session name and password. If you run into issues with the browser refer to #4 above.
Ask your teachers/ proctor, family member or caregiver for help if you get stuck logging in and logging out if needed. Do not ask for help with the questions. If you get stuck on a question after reading the question, make a selection and move on.
When you finish, your score will appear on the screen. Write your score down and discuss with your teacher or caregiver when the time is right.
6) Troubleshooting
a) Should issues arise during the assessment the student/ caregiver should first connect with the proctor/ teacher.
