About Me

My Background: After graduating from high school in San Diego, I decided to leave the nest and head to Colorado State University (Go Rams!) for my undergraduate degree. While at CSU, I double majored in Political Science and Communication Studies. After falling in love with everything Colorado has to offer, I decided to make my move permanent. I spent my first few years after college teaching Cotillion across the country, educating both adolescents and adults on the importance of social skills education. I realized however, that my passion and energy was best utilized in the classroom. I went back to school at UC Denver to earn both my teaching certificate as well as my Masters of Education. After subbing for many schools in Jefferson County, I absolutely fell in LOVE with Golden. I feel very fortunate to teach in such a community driven school and look forward to many years at GHS!

Teaching Philosophy: I view the classroom as a living breathing community, where everyone acts as a student, teacher, and leader. Learning is not confined to the four walls of a classroom, test scores, or grades. I hope that you can use U.S History as a way to make connections to your lives as young adults, and see the power in linking past to present.

Outside of School: When i'm not at GHS, I value giving back to the community. I serve on the Board of Directors for a Women's Organization at CSU, and work closely with RamStrength, a charity organization which helps cancer patients meet their basic needs. I love hiking 14er’s, camping, spending time with my family, and being outdoors with my Golden Retriever, Brinkley. I actively try to see as many parts of the world as possible, and strongly believe travel broadens your perspective. I am an avid fan of both the Bronco’s and the Rams, and of course the Demons!
