Message from the Principal

Greetings RVHS Families,

Last night you received a phone call notifying you that today our building would be temporarily closed for 24 hours for deeper cleaning due to two or more students or staff members in separate cohorts having been diagnosed with COVID 19 within a two week period. Thank you for your last minute flexibility. I know that this situation is not easy, but your understanding is greatly appreciated!

As you are aware, cases of COVID-19 within Jefferson County have been increasing. Jeffco Public Schools and the Jefferson County Public Health Department have eliminated all spectators at athletic and activity events. Although this is unfortunate, we are grateful that our students are still able to participate.

Finally, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of our students, staff and families. Our goal is to keep our school open for in-person learning and instruction, and I can’t thank you enough for your continued efforts and support around adhering to public safety health protocols and procedures. This has been a trying year for all of us, but, as a community, we will navigate through this together!

Stay safe!

Mica

Snow Day Information

In regards to the snow day earlier this week, Jeffco Public Schools has announced a new District-Wide Remote Day for all students should conditions require a closure of our school buildings due to weather or poor travel conditions. This will allow for learning to continue at home, even when weather prohibits the opening of school buildings.

Learning Preference Survey

RVHS families will have the opportunity to choose the learning model for their child(ren) for second semester through the Learning Preference Form. This form will be released on November 9th and will close on November 20th. A submission must be made for each child at RVHS. If a preference form is not filled out for a student, their second semester schedule will default to the learning model (Hybrid or Remote) in which they finished the first semester.

Trick-or-Treat Street

In lieu of Trick-or-Treat Street, NHS will be hosting a canned food drive from October 26 through November 6. All items will be donated to the Arvada Food Bank. Donation boxes will be outside of each entrance and there will be a competition to see what grade level donates the most cans. Our goal is to donate over 1,000 cans to the Arvada Food Bank.

Athletics

The Jeffco School District and the Jefferson County Public Health Department have recently directed schools to NOT ALLOW SPECTATORS at athletic events. This is effective immediately and does impact tomorrow’s lower level football games at Lakewood High School. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to navigate this pandemic. Last night’s game at the NAAC may be the last time we are allowed to have fans for some time.

Mustang Mentor Program (MMP)

Freshmen and Students who are new to RV this year

MMP is required of all Freshman students and students who are new to RV. Attendance is taken! The two remaining MMP dates are: November 13 and December 4 from 2:00 - 2:30. Please encourage your student to participate in these final discussions.

Hybrid and Remote Learning Attendance

Students are not allowed to move from remote learning to in-person learning until the end of first semester. If your student is a Hybrid student, they are expected to attend in-person learning on their assigned days. If your student is sick and unable to attend in-person, please call the attendance line to excuse their absence. Students are encouraged to still attend remotely, even if at home ill, but a phone call to excuse the student not being present in the classroom is still required for security reasons.

Remote-only Students Lunch Option

Students who are entirely remote learners may pick up a free lunch on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 1:45 and 2:15. Students should come to the main front doors of the school where they will be temperature-screened, and then proceed to the cafeteria for a free grab-and-go lunch.

Introducing Google Workspace (Formerly G Suite)

Google is rebranding G Suite as Google Workspace. You've probably noticed branding changes in your Gmail, GCal, and GDrive icons. The rebranding is accompanied with the upcoming rollout of new features to enhance collaboration and productivity, and of course, there are the new icons. Students will access their Google Workspace tools just like they accessed their G Suite tools.

Need Tech Assistance?

Visit our Remote Learning Tech Help Page to view the status of our core tools, access how-to and troubleshooting information, and find out how to get in touch with someone ASAP for tech help.

Please encourage your students to reach out to us for tech help right away so we can get them connected ASAP. It's generally easier to troubleshoot over the phone as opposed to email, so have your student call the school at 303-982-5600 so they can be connected to someone who can assist.
