Attendance Policy

Hello Ralston Valley Community! As we navigate away from the hybrid learning environment and back into 100% in-person learning environment, please see below regarding our attendance policy.

In-Person Attendance Policy beginning Monday, April 12th:

Monday - Thursday

Teachers are actively working to create successful and engaging lessons for all learners. Consistent, in-person attendance allows us to best meet the needs of those students.

  • In-person students will need to attend class in-person ONLY.

  • Only 100% remote students can attend remotely.

  • In-person students cannot choose to attend a class remotely.

Students will be informed of this policy during our class meetings on Thursday, April 15th.

Excused Absences: If an in-person student does not attend class in-person, the student will be marked absent. Parents or guardians will need to follow standard RV attendance protocols to excuse the absence.

Per board policy, the following shall be considered excused absences:

1. A student who is temporarily ill or injured or whose absence is approved by the school administration on a prearranged basis.

2. A student who is absent for an extended period due to physical, mental, or emotional disability.

3. Excused absences include funerals, illness, injury, legal obligations, medical procedures, and religious observations, and extenuating circumstances determined by the principal.

4. A student who is attending a school-sponsored activity or who is receiving Jeffco educational services.

5. A student who is visiting a parent/guardian who is active duty military.

6. A school will require communication from a parent/guardian within 24 hours to verify the reason for the student's absence.

If excused (according to the above district attendance policy), the student may choose to attend the class remotely.

If an in-person student will be traveling, a prearranged absence form is required for the student to attend school remotely.

Fridays

Fridays will continue to be online, asynchronous days for all students.

Thank you for your understanding and participation! Please reach out to your grade level administrator with any questions or concerns.

Health and Safety Reminders

We want to take this opportunity to remind students and families about the following health mitigation procedures:

  • Masks must be always be worn on campus, even outside, and must cover the nose and mouth (exception is during sporting events)

  • Follow one-way hallways and stairwells during passing periods

  • Maintain social distancing

  • Use assigned grade level doors for entering the building before 7:40am Student Entrances/Traffic Pattern

Spring Testing Schedule - April 13 & 14

PSAT and SAT testing will take place next Tuesday and Wednesday. We have a seat for all students both in-person and 100% remote. If your student is not testing on either day, they will stay home and complete asynchronous work. Tuesday is an asynchronous Blue Day (blocks 1, 3, 5) and Wednesday is a White Day (2, 4, 6).

Busses will run at normal times and grab-and-go lunches will be served at 1:45PM. If students are riding the bus home or need to wait until 1:30 to be picked up, we will have a quiet place in the cafeteria for them to study. If your student will be absent on the testing day, their counselor will reach out to them with information about make-up tests.

AP Exams

Ralston Valley High School AP Exam Schedule

The College Board changed the format of this year’s AP exams to a mix of in-person and online options. Schools were given the flexibility to choose their plan for delivering tests within the boundaries outlined by the College Board - based on the current Covid-19 conditions in each locality. In order to balance the needs of our community, we have created a plan that meets the current health protocols and provides students added flexibility with testing.

Students who are approved for accommodations will be given the same accommodations whether testing in person or digitally. All students planned to take digital exams will receive practice and technical support in preparation for their digital tests so that they may take them at home. We will have overflow space at school to support bandwidth concerns for digital exams on Wednesday and Thursday, May 19th and 20th.

The listed exams (In-Person and Digital) are the primary exam dates/times/environments for each test. There will be options for make-up testing to accommodate extenuating circumstances (ex: Covid-19 concerns).

Any concerns regarding testing environments, testing conflicts, or concerns with testing should be directed to Scott Merkel - AP Coordinator - scott.merkel@jeffco.k12.co.us.

In-Person Exams:

All in-person exams (1) will be held at the Fellowship Covenant Church: 5615 W. 64th Ave

All in-person exams (2) will be held at Christ Community Covenant Church: 6757 Simms St

Please access the assessment times and locations here.
