About Me!
Parents and Students:
Hey, my name is Ms. Lane and this is my 5th year at SRMS. This is my sixth year teaching Social Studies, and my 7th year with the district. Before I was a Social Studies teacher, I was a long term sub for both Science and PE. Prior to becoming a teacher for Jeffco, I went to Jeffco schools and graduated from Green Mountain High School. During high school I was concurrently enrolled in Red Rocks and was hopeful to go to school for Environmental Sciences. From there I moved up to Boulder and attended CU Boulder for a short period where I learned a lot about myself and my strength but realized Environmental Science was not for me. After moving back home I finished my core course work though Red Rocks and transferred to Metropolitan State University of Denver. I graduated from MSU in 2016 with a Bachelors in History and a minor in secondary education. I still work closely with the Teacher Education program at Metro and mentor college students interested in teaching.
I recently got married, so you may remember me as Ms. Ryd. Same person, just a new name.😊 Last fall I finally got a dog, her name is Cloe and she is a German Shepard Husky mix rescue. She is hilarious and loves to cuddle. I also have a 6 foot Red- Tailed Columbian Boa I got from a co-worker who was moving back east in the spring. I love spending time outside with my little family. During the summer we spend a lot of time outside as hiking is one of my favorite hobbies. We also enjoy travelling. My parents just moved to South Dakota and my husband is from Tennessee. We love driving, so road tripping is a favorite past time is well. I also love a good book- I pinhole myself in historical fiction/non-fiction and fantasy- so if you have a great book recommendation please send them my way. I also love to paper craft, journal, and write. I used to do quiet a bit of CrossFit and horseback riding, and am actively trying to get back into it. I have always loved animals and your pet stories are some of my favorite.
On my website you will find several resources and tools for your convenience.
Just below is a copy of the late work form. I use this for students to communicate with me that their work is ready to be graded if it was not turned in on time. Students will not lose points for work being submitted late, however if a late slip is not turned in I do not know work needs to be graded. Typically I grade late work once a week.
The next two tabs, located at the top right of the page, is for 7th and 8th grade. On this page you will find a snap shot of what we study in each unit and helpful student resources for that unit. These resources can include copies of notes, slide shows used in class, study guides and textbook pages used in class. If you or your student is struggling, please check these resources first! They are there for your use and help! If you need more support, please do not hesitate to reach out. Email is the best way to reach me.
On the following tab you will find my Calendar. On my Calendar I post the daily agenda and outline what we will be talking about in class as I plan it. The daily agendas are a wealth of information and include what we are working on in class each day, warm up and exit ticket questions, and annoucments made in class. If you are absent, please plan on looking at my website under the calendar to see what you missed in class that day. The calendar is also a great resource for planning ahead.
The last tab is copies of resources for parents, that students can find in their google classroom. These documents include my classroom syllabus, the student handbook, and the chromebook help doc.
I look forward to a great year!
