Mrs. Wicke: Theater & Yearbook

About Me: My family (one husband, three kids, one dog, one tortoise and me) moved to Colorado in 2015 from Southern California where I was sad to leave a beloved teaching job; thus, I am so very excited to be back in the classroom and teaching at Drake this year! It is truly my passion and calling, and I love Drake. (Two of my kiddos finished jr. high here, so I am a fan!) I have 10 years teaching experience in language arts, including newspaper and yearbook, as well as a strong background in theater performance, so combining these two passions is a dream come true. In Drama Explore we will:

  • study the craft of acting including voice, movement, expression, and character analysis
  • practice our craft in exercises, theater games, monologues, and scenes.
  • perform an end-of-trimester showcase.

Yearbook class:

  • is publication based, meaning that all activity and instruction is geared toward producing the school's yearbook.
  • is run as a newsroom with the students managing as much of the operations as possible.
  • Of course, the teacher gives instruction and works to hone student skills, but when it comes to staff and publication management, she acts as a guide and mentor, giving the students real world, hands-on experiences.
