Mrs. O'Connell's

1st Grade Class

About me:

I am so excited to have the opportunity to be your child's 1st grade teacher! This will be my third year teaching at Mount Carbon. I cannot wait to teach another year with Mount Carbon's strong and caring team! My educational philosophy is based on the belief that each child is special and will succeed in a safe, nurturing, and academically stimulating environment.

It has been a dream of mine to become a teacher since I was young. I attended Fort Lewis College In Durango, Colorado to pursue this aspiration. Shortly after graduating and earning my teaching license, I moved back to my hometown of Los Alamos, New Mexico to begin my career as an elementary school teacher. I taught 2nd grade there for six years. During my time there, I earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with a Reading concentration from New Mexico Highlands University. I moved to Littleton in the summer of 2016 to start teaching at Mount Carbon. I enjoy running, reading, and hiking with my dog.

I am looking forward to a great school year with you and your wonderful children!
