What is FIRST Lego League (FLL)?

FLL is a STEM-based, robotics program designed to educate kids about the principles of scientific research, engineering, and programming. While they do use Lego bricks and software, these are not Lego clubs and there is no free-build time scheduled during meetings except to meet specific program objectives.

The FLL season runs from August to February and culminates in a series of competitive tournaments.

An FLL season is comprised of 3 elements, which teams will be judged upon during the tournaments:

1) Research Project - team members identify a real-world problem related to the current year's FIRST challenge and solve it; then, be able to explain their research and resolution to the judges

2) Robot Game - the team will build a Lego Mindstorms autonomous robot to complete tasks and score points on a thematic playing surface

3) FLL Core Values - the FIRST organization believes strongly that people can compete fiercely, but still treat everyone with respect and kindness and that competition and cooperation are not mutually exclusive. They call these values:
