Salut! and SPARK Clubs

Two new clubs are coming to Mandalay Middle School this fall: “SPARK”, a junior German Club, and “Salut!”, a junior French club. 

Both clubs will meet after school Thursdays at Mandalay from 3:45-4:45 for 10 weeks beginning September 14, and will be facilitated by Standley Lake High School world language students in Honor Societies, supervised by their French and German teachers. 

These clubs are intended to introduce students to the respective language and cultures, through hands-on, whole body learning activities such as games, crafts, songs, dance, food tasting, etc. 

The programs will cover the following skills or competencies: Greetings, forming basic sounds, alphabet, numbers, colors, geography, foods, likes and dislikes. 

Our last day those clubs will meet will be on November 16, but there will be a joint “Saint-Nicholas & Noël” Party held at Standley Lake HS on December 7 after school.

The following Standley Lake High School Seniors will be the main facilitors of the clubs as part of the International Baccalaureate CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Project.  All have traveled to France or Germany as part of their studies and are leaders in their respective languages.
