Meet Your Teachers
Mrs. Brodie: This year marks the beginning of my 7th year teaching 4th grade at JA, although I have been blessed to be employed here since 2004. I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with my BA in English with a teaching concentration and am almost finished with my MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. (Come on December!!) I have been married for 25 years. I have two children - both came all the way through JA, so I get it :) Ryan in 22 and just graduated from CSU in May. He has an "adult" job now and lives in Fort Collins. Rebecca is 20 and a junior at Regis University. She is working on completing the nursing program. My husband, Jeff, is retired Navy. He spent 5 years on active duty, 18 years in the reserves, and he was deployed to Kuwait for 10 months when Ryan was in fourth grade and Rebecca was in second. I have two Labrador Retrievers - Murphy & Miles and two cats - Oscar and Felix. I LOVE my job, the Broncos, the Avs, the Rockies, the mountains, my family, and especially my students!
Mrs. Cole: I am blessed to be a 4th grade teacher & to be part of this wonderful JA community. I am in my 6th year at JA & a total of 8 years teaching, 6 years in Colorado & two in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I am an Iowa native, but a true Coloradan at heart! I have been married for 26 years to my husband, Jeff, who is a Paramedic in Golden. We have three children. Erin & her husband, Jason, live in Fort Collins. Dane is pursuing a career in law enforcement. My youngest, Zoe, is a 6th grader here at JA. I am an avid Broncos fan!!! I love my job & am thrilled to be part of your child's education & elementary experience.
Mrs. Erickson: Hi! My name is Shea Erickson. I have lived in Colorado all my life. Currently, I live in Broomfield with my husband, Kevin, and our two daughters: Jordyn who is 15 and Morgan who is 12 years old and our Chihuahua named Ali. My family and I enjoy going to the mountains, boating, fishing, and making memories together. This is my fifth year at Jefferson Academy and my eighth year teaching overall. I love to share my passion of teaching all subjects to my fourth graders, but writing is my favorite. I love to see the kids get excited about something they have written on their own and how they tie together the entire writing process from start to finish to create a final piece that they are proud of. I enjoy being a part of the JA family and look forward to getting to know your student this year!
Ms. Chang: I was born in Beijing, China, and immigrated to the U.S. when I was eight years old. I grew up in New York City, but Colorado has been my home since 2003. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania, and received my Master's from the University of Denver. I am an avid reader and knitter. I also love to spent time outdoors hiking, climbing, and camping with my husband Scott and my son Rhys, who will be two in December. This is my seventh year at JA, and my second year teaching Fourth Grade. I'm particularly excited to see some of my former Second Grade students, and I look forward to getting to know our class!
Mrs. Ramsey: I'm looking forward to starting my 5th year of teaching fourth grade here at JA! I grew up in a small town in Central Minnesota, then was offered a Track and Field Scholarship at the University of Northern Colorado. I graduated from UNC with my degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology, then went on to get my Masters in Elementary Education at Regis University. My husband, Aaron and I have been married for four years and we have two kids: Crew (two and a half years old), Berkleigh (six months), and of course our Boxer dog named Tulo (five years old). This will be my third year job-sharing, and I'm beyond thankful to truly get the best of both worlds! Outside of teaching I love going up to the mountains, stand-up paddle boarding, traveling, hockey, hiking and being around family and friends!
