Mrs. Henkes' 4th Grade Class

Welcome to 4th grade at Leawood Elementary! As I get to know all your kiddos, I wanted to start with sharing a little about me. I grew up in Massachusetts on the south shore of Boston. I come from a big family with 5 siblings and lots of extended family. Although that area will always have a piece of my heart, I have been exploring different areas out west for the past 21 years and have found my true home here in these mountains- “East of my youth, the west of my future” ~Jack Kerouac.

I have been in education for many years, including the last 5 years here at Leawood! I have my Master’s Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Northern Colorado. I continue to take classes and workshops each year to keep my teaching fresh and exciting. Plus, I just love to learn! I have a new baby boy at home which my husband and I are enthralled with-loving mommyhood! In our free time, we enjoy all the outdoors that Colorado has to offer as well as music, movies, plays, and sports.

Fourth grade is a very exciting year. It’s a huge growth year for kiddos both academically and socially which is why I love teaching this grade! I’m looking forward to watching all these amazing 4th graders learn, grow and succeed this year!
