Mrs. Baumgarten, Foothills Social Worker

My name is Diana Baumgarten and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been a social worker for 25 years and this is my twelfth year in Jeffco Public Schools. I have worked in Preschool and Elementary schools. I love the age range of students in Elementary school. I have been at Foothills for four years and have been full-time for three years. It is a privilege to work at Foothills! Some important aspects of my role as the social worker include teaching our students social skills, supporting students who have difficulty managing in a classroom and sending a strong anti-bullying message to our entire school. This includes teaching specific lessons regarding kindness and being productive citizens.

I also have the amazing opportunity to spearhead a new program called Foothills Foodies. This is a food distribution program where we are inviting families in need to come and shop at our "grocery store" on Friday afternoons. Families are able to come in and fill bags with fresh produce, meats, dairy products and non-perishable foods at no cost to them. As long as they have a student who attends Foothills, families can take advantage of this service. I am partnering with agencies and individuals in the Green Mountain community to make this possible. My hope is that Foothills will eventually be the hub for providing food to all Jeffco students and families in need in the Green Mountain area!
