Internship Description:
POSITION SUMMARY of Unit Ambassador:
To aid the nursing floor by either completing tasks or to help provide a welcoming environment for visitors. This will help ease the department’s workload while providing a positive experience for patients and visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Answers phones.
Greets and directs all visitors.
Passes fresh iced water. (Volunteers must ask the nurse for a list of those rooms that cannot have anything to eat or drink. Remember the term NPO—nothing permitted orally).
Run errands, upon request.
Regulatory readiness – unit sweep.
Assists with any simple tasks.
Helps keep room neat and tidy.
Assists with putting supplies away & listing expired supplies.
O2 Tank storage
Straighten up waiting areas, call for bed removal.
Assists Director/Manager with filing or miscellaneous projects.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Communicates clearly and respectfully with others.
Demonstrates good customer service skills and has an interest in helping others.
Understands AIDET and uses it with every interaction.
Demonstrates proper telephone etiquette.
Demonstrates a sincere interest in the work that has to be completed, accepts supervision, and adheres to hospital policies.

Willingness to take verbal and written direction from staff.
Acts appropriately and effectively in dealing with critical, stressful and/or unexpected situations.
