NEWS & UPCOMING EVENTS

Invest in EHS Day

Dear Cougar Families,

We hope you’ve heard by now that INVEST IN EHS DAY is Tuesday, October 19, at www.InvestinEHS.com. During our one-day fundraising campaign we aspire to raise enough money to be able to provide critical educational support for Evergreen High School. With $50,000, we can:

· Outfit every single classroom with a Mimio Touch Screen, which will positively impact learning for every student at EHS.

· Provide key classroom tools and software

· Offer training for teachers, staff, and student leadership

· Fund teachers’ special projects

· Help EHS stay competitive and maintain its level of excellence

On Tuesday, please consider making a donation at www.InvestinEHS.com. If every family contributes at least $50 for each of their EHS students, we will make our goal in one day. All donations are tax-deductible, and 100% of your donation goes to the EHSEF. If we all work together, we can do great things.

This year, thanks to the Pisula Development Company, with the first 100 donations of $150 or more, EHS teachers and staff will receive a gift card to a local business at the Bergen Village Shopping Center: Hearthfire Books and Treats, Chow Down, Bread Lounge, Evergreen Cooking School, or Nellybelle General Store. It’s a great way to support the school and our community businesses.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

The Evergreen High School Education Foundation

Jeffco Schools Costume Shop

Jeffco Costume Connection, the shared costume resource for Jeffco Schools, has lots of work to do pruning the collection of costumes and they are looking for student (& adult) volunteers willing to sort through costumes, look for stains, wear, etc that would indicate something to remove from the collection. Once we've weeded the collection, we'll start inventory, cataloging & tagging costumes with a scannable barcode for easier checkout & return.

If you are in need of service hours, or just love to work with costumes, sign up to help with this great project HERE!

SOFTBALL (results here) - Congrats on a great season!

TENNIS- BOYS (results here) -

EHS team finished 3rd at Regionals 2 weeks ago and had 4 State qualifiers.

Nicely done team!

Congratulations to the following EHS students who qualified for the STATE this season -

Senior Zach Short, Freshman Shepherd Maren (one of the only freshmen in the entire state to qualify),

Junior Jake Lewis, and Senior Joe Cuntz

Playing #1 Doubles, Zach Short and Shepherd Maren won their first match of the Colorado High School 4A State Tennis Championships, coming from behind to defeat a pair of regional champions in their match. Zack and Shepherd then played Colorado Academy and lost in the second round. We are awaiting semi results and have fingers crossed for the possibility of playing in the Finals on Saturday.

Playing #1 Singles, Jake Lewis, as a regional winner, played a #2 opponent and won his first round. Then Jake played the #1 player from Niwot and lost in the quarter finals. We had a lot of fun watching Jake win, win, & win this season in the #1 position. Results are not in at this time, but hoping Jake has a chance to play in the finals on Saturday.

And in #3 Singles, Joe Cuntz won both of his Thursday matches, and advanced to the SEMIFINALS on Friday. There are no results at the time of this posting. See the link below and look for photos and updates in next week’s Messenger.

(CHSAA State Results linked here)

VOLLEYBALL (results here) - On 10/12, the Evergreen varsity volleyball team won their away conference match against the Conifer Lobos by a score of 3-0. And On 10/14, the EHS volleyball team lost their match against D'Evelyn by a score of 3-1.

FIELD HOCKEY - The JeffCo High School Girls Field Hockey team is wrapping up their Fall 2021 season. This team is unique in CHSAA with the squad made up of athletes from many different JeffCo high schools. This varsity team is led by Coach Jacob Southern of Dakota Ridge and hosts home games on a new turf field in partnership with the Rocky Mountain Deaf School (next door to D’Evelyn High). The girls on the team came together from Evergreen, Lakewood, Chatfield, Ralston Valley, Golden, Green Mountain and Dakota Ridge. (Shout-out to EHS students Cora Blatchford and Riley McIntosh!!) Coach Southern creates an environment where the girls have fun together and show up to work hard. It has been amazing to see a cohesive team form from different backgrounds, grades, sports and levels of experience in field hockey. Many play multiple sports and bring their love of lacrosse, soccer and softball to the pitch. Over the last two and half months of this fall season they have become a team - starting off with a tough defeat versus 2020 State Champs, Regis Jesuit, to a late season shutout win at Cheyenne Mountain.

If interested in participating, check with EHS Athletic Director LeRoy Lopez for more information about next season’s team.

Parents, students, coaches -we invite you to send highlights and photos from our EHS Varsity events and we will try to get all your “shout-outs” posted in future Messengers, on EHS social Media or on our “Cougars in the News” wall.
