The goal of recreation sports is to provide students with an alternative physical education class where they'll participate in outdoor activities that essential to developing the lifelong concepts of work-life balance. The class will focus on activities such as hiking/backpacking, snowshoeing, slack lining, rock climbing, stand up paddle boarding, ice skating, disc golf, mountain biking, and guest speakers to name a few. Through these activities students will learn skills like safety, trail etiquette, leave-no-trace stewardship, gear use and maintenance (i.e. change a flat tire, tent pitching), wilderness first aid and survival, planning and preparation, and team building.
With the amazing resources available to the Evergreen community, we can help foster the importance of using them as avenue towards a healthy work-life balance in our young adults.
