Western Trails Review and Questions

1. Posters will be displayed around the room about each western trail.

2. Create a tree map with the main idea - "Western Trails" and the four branches - "Santa Fe Trail" "Oregon Trail" "Mormon Trail" "California Trail"

Under each of the trails be sure to include:

a. when the trail began

b. countries that once owned the land

c. groups and people who traveled the trail

d. land forms they had to overcome

e. 3-4 facts about daily life on the trail

3. You will find the answers to your tree map as you walk around in a gallery walk, reading and discussing your classmates posters.

4. After you finish the gallery walk and discussion, please answer the following questions on the back of your tree map in PEAC:

a. What are similarities between all of the trails?

b. Was one trail a better choice than another? Why?

c. In your opinion, what would have been the hardest part of traveling the trails? Why?
