9 to 5 the Musical

Technicians who would like to join the tech crew for 9 to 5 must interview with Ms. Newman and Spitz on Monday and Tuesday, December 5-6, 2:45-5:00 p.m.

The questions we will be asking applicants are as follows:

  1. Why do you want to be in tech?

  2. Which area of tech are you interested in? Do you have any experience in this tech area or any other tech area?

  3. What’s your theatre background?

  4. Would you consider yourself a leader or a follower? When working in a team, what role do you tend to fill most often?

  5. How do you keep yourself organized when facing multiple due dates?

  6. Describe a time when you had a problem when working on a project with a peer, and how you resolved said problem.

  7. Are you part of any other club or after school activity? Do you have any conflicts with the current production schedule?

  8. Do you have questions for us?

If you are interested in a crew head or stage management position, we expect that you will bring extra materials to support your request for a leadership role (resume, portfolio with images from previous productions or other related work, etc.). We will also ask you a few additional questions:

  1. What makes you the best fit for this role? (Use this opportunity to brag about yourself, and discuss the supporting documents you bring with you!)

  2. How would you describe your leadership style?

  3. How do you plan to serve and support your team?

  4. If two peers on your team are arguing during a rehearsal or production, how would you help resolve the issue?

  5. If you were in a situation in which your peer is disputing your position as a leader, how would you work with that peer to arrive at a compromise?
