WHY THIS TEXT?

This memoir will provide students with more exposure to figurative language and show them how it can be used as a writing tool to more richly communicate a character’s experiences. As they review the unique illustrations, students will discover how these graphic features add to the reading experience. As a result, they will be able to ask and answer questions about what purpose the illustrations serve.
