Life is one big adventure, and math can be also! I absolutely love teaching math to kids in a way that makes sense to them and is very engaging. In our 5th grade classroom, students will be exploring many different computation algorithms with large whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Exploring math concepts involves using manipulatives, drawing models, communicating your ideas, and always trying to answer the question “Why does that work?”. Students will also put their math skill into action by completing projects, simulation activities, and STEM activities.
I enjoy “playing” with math concepts because I am just a big kid who enjoys discovering and trying new things.. When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing video games and watching baseball(Go Braves!) with my husband, Eric. I play with my two dogs everyday. The stoic yellow mutt and adorable long-haired dachshund fill my days with laughter and lots of fluffy hugs. Completing puzzles, building lego cities, and playing cards fill my time, as well as painting, singing, and dancing (nothing professional, though!)
My hope is that everyday, we will all learn, discover, and support each other in math and our daily life adventures.
