ABOUT THE ADVANCEMENT IN EDUCATION SUMMIT 2024 

Educators will arrive from different parishes and towns of Jamaica and converge on the campus of the University of Miami for this post-pandemic in-person Education Summit.  They aim to network, learn new skills and celebrate their arrival in the United States. The registration process starts on May 28th, and a full slate of fun activities begins almost simultaneously to their arrival.  Everyone is required to register to participate in the week's event.  

The members of the Jamaica Diaspora Taskforce Action Network (JDTAN) welcome educators from the USA, Jamaica, and the rest of the Caribbean to the 2024 Advancement in Education Summit 2024 in Miami. Under the theme, "Advancing Innovations in Education: Reaching Teaching & Learning, the Summit, which is convened annually in various parts of the Diaspora, focuses on the teaching and learning experience for educators. It provides meaningful experience for educators both in and outside the classroom, building capacity for national development. For the past ten years, JDTAN has collaborated with various organizations to provide workshops, presentations, tours, and valuable discussions in capacity development. The network is thankful to its legacy partners, the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA), the Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations (UJAA), and Jamaica National Bank (JNB), for their commitment to education, specifically to the teachers and students. We are also happy to partner with the School of Education at the University of Miami and Jackson Health System.

The Keynote speaker of the Summit this year is Mrs. Fayval Williams, Minister of Education and Youth. Mrs. Audrey Marks, Ambassador to the United States, is the Patron of the event. In attendance will be the Consul General to Miami, Mr. Oliver Mair, and several other county and municipal leaders, making the event a special occasion.  

Summit 2024 includes three activities: a reception on the first day, an opening session, workshops and presentations, tours, and a closing session until Friday, May 31, culminating with a Gala on June 1, 2024. Papa Michigan will entertain our guests at the Gala with his myriad of musical hit songs. The cost for attending the events are: Registration to Summit is $50 and Gala $120 per person.
