GSES Updates

August 9, 2020

We are excited to share the links for our Virtual Open House. The GSES staff will be logging on for live sessions on Monday, August 10 at 9:00, 11:00, and 4:00 to introduce themselves and share some information about the upcoming school year. If you are unable to attend one of the sessions, please reach out to your child's teacher to schedule an alternate time.

We will continue to collect school supplies on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00-6:00. Supplies can be dropped at the front of the school (under the awning) in the grade level boxes. Please be sure to label your supplies with your child's name and teacher.

If your child will be entering Pre-K or Kindergarten and you missed the face-to-face orientation on Friday, please contact your teacher to schedule a time to meet.

If you opted to have your child to be part of the Distancel Learning classes, the orientation and open house sessions will be held on Tuesday, August 11 at 10:00 and 4:00. An email containing the links for the Distance Learning sessions will be sent to those families on Monday afternoon.

Please contact Melissa Gierum via email (mgierum@jcss.us) or phone if you need to drop off medication prior to the first day of school.

Transportation and Dismissal

We will be using PikMyKid app to help organize and improve our dismissal system for the 2020-2021 school year. Complete the form linked below to indicate how your child(ren) will be getting home. Please identify every possible way your child(ren) may go home throughout the year on the form. *All students will need to have the form completed, regardless of how they will be going home.* If they will be a car rider at any point please be sure to indicate that, so we can assign them a car rider number.

If your child(ren) will be riding the bus to or from school, you can find more information regarding bus routes at the link here. The spreadsheet is sorted by the names of roads. Please note any roads that say “Contact Jackson County Transportation” have multiple drivers that service that location, therefore we need specific addresses for families to provide which driver they can expect. Just call us at 706-654-5580 and we can assist you.

After School Program

If you are interested in signing your child(ren) up for the GSES After School Program, please complete the Interest form linked here. Please understand this form does not guarantee a spot in the program. Any students who are accepted into the program will need to pay a $15 registration fee as well as a $35 dollar weekly fee regardless of how many days they may attend. Parents will also be required to pre-pay for the program, so we can ensure we are properly staffed for the following week. More details regarding the program will be shared in the coming weeks.
