To provide a comprehensive, developmental program addressing the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. School counselors are professional advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement. In partnership with other educators, parents and/or guardians, and the community, school counselors facilitate the support system to ensure all students have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.
It is the school counselor's duty to assist students in developing:
1. career awareness
2. positive peer relations
4. good study skills
5. organizational skills
6. time management
7. anger management
8. drug awareness
9. tolerance of others
10. character education
I achieve the counseling goals by teaching classroom guidance lessons, individual counseling, small group counseling sessions, an annual career day, and through referrals to outside agencies when appropriate. I promote Red Ribbon Week. I am on the Leadership team and crisis team for GSES. I also coordinate the Legacy Youth mentoring program.
