Jarrell ISD will hold an outdoor graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 at the Jarrell High School Cougar Football Stadium on Friday, May 29 at 8:30 p.m. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m.

The graduates, attendees and district staff will social distance during the event. The ceremony will follow TEA’s Graduation Guidelines, which include the following:

● Seating of graduates with sufficient distance from one another on the football field with limited guests in the bleachers

● Availability of a livestream or televised broadcast of ceremony (link posted above) to limit participant attendance and for those unable to attend.

● Providing non-medical grade face masks printed with the school logo to graduates

● Predesignating/assigning parking so that arrivals and departures are carefully coordinated

● Staggering the release of students and guests to limit congregating after the ceremony

JHS Graduation 2020 Procedures - Information for Parents

● Tickets: To protect the health and safety of our students, their families, and our faculty, graduates will be limited to FOUR (4) guests at the event. Students were issued FOUR (4) non-transferrable tickets for the event. No one may enter the graduation without a verified ticket.

● Health Screening Forms: Health Screening Forms (for the graduate and his/her guests to complete) were distributed to students when they picked up their tickets. Everyone in attendance at the graduation ceremony must turn in this required Health Screening Form upon entry to the graduation. These forms should be completed and signed before arriving at the ceremony.

● Masks: In order to ensure that everyone in attendance feels safe, everyone (including all 4 guests of each graduate) must wear a mask or face covering to attend the event.

● Parking: Parents should drop their students off at the front of the school between 7:40 and 7:45 p.m. After dropping-off your student, all vehicles will be parked in the stadium park lot.

● Gate Entry: Guests will be required to social distance at all times. Households of 4 will sit together, so please stand together in line prior to entry. Families will be checked for a verified graduation ticket AND must turn in their Health Screening Forms upon entry.

● Event Seating: Families will be escorted to their designated seating areas. All members of the household must remain within their seating box while in the stands. Failure to stay within the seating box will result in removal from the ceremony. Children must remain seated with their families at all times.

● Event Photography: Jarrell ISD will have professional photographers taking pictures of the graduation. Families/students will be contacted after graduation about purchasing photos.

Post-ceremony Procedures for Guests:

● Social Distancing: There can be no gathering in the stands, at the fence, on the field or in the parking lots.

● Dismissal: The audience will be dismissed in an orderly fashion, in accordance with all social distancing guidelines. Please follow the directions provided by district administrators and wait until your group is dismissed.

● Exiting the Stadium: Families will need to exit through the South Entrance to return to the parking lot.

● Parking Lot Procedures: Once you reach the parking lot, please load into your car. No one may congregate in the parking lot.

● Student Pick-up: Once guests are safely in their cars, families should drive to the front of the school to pick up their graduates.

JHS Graduation 2020 Procedures - Information for Students

● Student Graduation Attire:

○ Boys: boots/dress shoes, dress pants or nice jeans, collared shirt

○ Girls: boots/dress shoes, (avoid heels due to turf), dress, dress pants, or nice jeans, dress or collared shirt

○ Graduation caps may be decorated in a school appropriate way both in words and pictures. A cap that is decorated in an inappropriate way is grounds for removal from the ceremony.

○ Shorts, flip flops or sun glasses will not be worn.

○ Masks: Students will also be required to wear masks at graduation. The masks were provided to the students when they picked up their tickets. Students will be able to remove their masks for pictures.

○ Possession of these items is grounds for removal: Beachballs, streamers, noise makers. etc.,

● Student Drop-Off: Students will be dropped off at the front door of the high school between 7:40 and 7:45 p.m. All students and staff will have their temperature checked prior to entering the high school building. When entering the building, students must stay at least 6 feet apart. JISD staff will be onsite to ensure that students maintain proper social distancing at all times.

● Student Pick-Up: After the ceremony, all students will be picked up at the front door of the high school. Seniors should not drive themselves to graduation unless absolutely necessary.

● Student Preparation/Ceremony Instructions: Upon arrival, students will be divided into lines. Staff will ensure students maintain social distancing. Faculty will serve as line leaders to escort students to the football field for the graduation ceremonies. Line leaders will direct students when time to walk the stage

● Post Ceremony Instructions: After ceremony, staff line leaders will lead students back to the building. There will be no student or family gatherings at the stadium or parking lot after the ceremony.
