View From Spain

This is a combination of a water colour and biro painting. It is a beautiful view from the holiday site where we stayed in Spain. It took me approximately 3 hours to complete. The size of this painting is 29cm by 16cm.

The Crab

This is a water colour painting on an A3 water colour paper. This took me 6-7 hours. While painting this I was looking at the complementary colours especially at the centre of the crab. I used a shade of blue to create a very nice contrast with the red parts of the crab to create the shade effect I was looking for. Overall, this is a painting I believe shows my skill in colour very well.

The Woman In a Blue Top

This is an acrylic painting of a woman in blue. It took me 2 hours to complete. The scale is 29cm by 16cm.

While I was making it I split her face into 5 shades and when I got all her shades down on my palette. I put all the tones on to the sections. Then I used a smaller brush to blend the edges. For the background I decided to go for a solid colour so the person can really stand out.

Octopus

This artwork is mixed medium. The head is all in biro. The middle section is biro and water colour and the bottom is graphite.

The water colour took me about an hour and 30 minutes and this artwork was done on A3 paper. I did the water colour by putting on shade with a biro pen and then painting with water colour on top. You can see that I also did some texture on the front of the octopus with a biro pen.

Rowing Under The Butterfly Bridge

This is an oil painting of the River Great Ouse. I enjoyed adding rowing Bedford School Boys on the river since this is the image of the river for me.

This is on a 60cm by 80cm box canvas and this took me about 5-6 hours. This painting is in the style of Claude Monet, on of my favourite artists. Claude Monet is an impressionist and is famous for painting rivers. The way he works with colours separates him from any other artist of his time.

Pegasus in the mist

This is a mixed medium painting. It took me about 4 hours. The black background was painted with oil and I used spray paint for the body of the Pegasus and the blue mist underneath. I wanted the frame to be large so I can create the splash effect on the frame. The multi-coloured splashes was made with an experimental mix of linseed oil and acrylic paint so I can splash like liquid. The scale is 80cm by 80cm.

For this artwork I got inspired by graffiti artists and Mr Brainwash's splash colour style that I saw in one of the galleries in Cambridge.
