LIBRARY INFORMATION IN BRIEF
The history of Jai Hind College library dates back to 1948 with the inception of Jai Hind College. The library was named in 1969 as “T.M. Advani Memorial library” in the loving memory of late Principal T.M. Advani.
The library has a rich collection of books consisting wide variety and subscribes to dailies journals, periodicals and magazines. The library has a comprehensive reference collection of encyclopedias, handbooks, dictionaries, atlas, etc.
Dewey decimal classification system is followed to classify books in the library. The Library provides Open Access Facility since 90's. The library has wide range of novels in different languages and other light reading material catering to diverse interests. The library collection includes languages like English, Marathi, Hindi, Sindhi, Gujarati, Sanskrit and French.
The Library has a Library Advisory Committee to support the functioning of the library so that it can facilitate the library development plans by advocating the library development activities. The structure of the committee is: Chairperson – Principal, Secretary –Librarian, Members are the teaching staff members from different streams. The purpose of the Library Advisory Committee is to act as a channel of communication and dialogue between the Library and its users.
Library uses SLIM21 software and is fully computerized library with online functional modules like Book acquisition, circulation, catalog, serials, etc.
E-Library consist E Journals, Online access to the subscribed Print journals, Thesis, teachers publications, lectures, seminar / conference proceedings, Link of open access e –books suggested by teachers, In house publications, etc. E Library is accessible on Intranet. Library provides free access to its members.
