The guidance counselor, department supervisor, and Director of Guidance will review the PLO application based on the student’s rationale and approve or deny the application. The P.L.O. application provides detailed information about the requirements, grading, and procedures that students must follow when developing a P.L.O. Financial Literacy (P.L.O. - Option 2)
Grades: 11-12
Students entering the 11th or 12th grade may opt to fulfill their state financial literacy requirement online. Students must complete the course by the end of semester 1. It is the goal of the JSD to have students experience at least one online learning experience prior to graduating. There are multiple benefits to fulfilling the state financial literacy requirement online including, but not limited to: Students will complete a state-required course for graduation; the online learning experience will help students prepare for college since the majority of students now entering college will experience online instruction/course work at some time during their college experience; and by fulfilling their state financial literacy requirement online, students will be able to take additional coursework or electives of high interest. The option will only be offered during the summer and must be completed by the end of semester 1. The online course will be graded as pass or fail (P/F) and will not count into the student's GPA. Students will earn 2.5 credits for completing and passing the online course. Students interested in fulfilling their state financial literacy requirement during the summer should fill out the APPLICATION (click here) and return it to their Guidance Counselor. Parents and students, prior to enrollment, should consider the student’s learning style and whether an independent online course will lead to success.
