I had lots of fun creating this image. The plaster cast of the head is taken from a rubber mould of a clay portrait of an imagined person. I'm referencing masculinity, tradition, portraiture, introspection and serene look with social problem of alcoholism and toxic masculinity. The dried vine tendrils are quite easily read in that way as well as being a surprising introduction of a natural material that is in stark contrast with the smooth and while look of plaster. Slight incongruousness makes it an interesting thing to look at.
The head has a very short neck - to make it more contemporary and removed from classical statuary and traditional head and shoulders bust.
