ROP Registration Information
ROP Registration takes place in three periods throughout the school year: Fall, Spring, and Summer. The time to register for an ROP class will always be the semester BEFORE the semester you wish to enroll. Here's what that looks like:
- Fall Registration: Takes place in the Spring and Summer
- Spring Registration: Takes place in the Fall
- Summer Registration: Takes place in the Spring
Find the Career Specialist on campus in order to ensure that you know the start dates for every registration period. Remember, it is a first-come, first-serve, college-style registration. NOBODY is guaranteed a spot... but the earlier you come, the better your chances. See you soon!

We are still accepting students for ROP classes, but the choices become more limited as school days pass. Want to know whether or not that class you were interested in is still available? Don't delay! Come see Mr. Schooler in the College & Career Center.
Filling out the Registration form DOES NOT guarantee enrollment in a course. Summer & After School courses are open to students from the 27 high schools Coastline ROP serves and enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. Seniors have priority, followed by Juniors and then Sophomores.
Coastline ROP Searchable Course Catalog
Coastline ROP has introduced a new searchable Course Catalog. It is currently set up for classes offered during Spring Semester, and allows students and parents to look up classes based on a variety of factors, including location, teacher, industry sector, In-Bell or After-Bell, and other parameters. ROP Registration Postcard
Coastline ROP will mail you a postcard, similar to the one below, with the information about the class(es) you signed up for, and whether you are Registered or on the Wait List. You will get one postcard for each class you signed up for. The post card will come about two weeks before your first class. Information including Class Location, Room Number, Day and Time, and the First Day of Class are included. Any additional information may also be included in the comments. Please make sure you carefully look through your mail and do not throw away this card!
ROP Registration FAQs
Q: By filling out a registration form, am I automatically enrolled in my desired class?
A: No, you are not automatically enrolled in the ROP class you signed up for. All After Bell ROP classes are open to students from the 27 high schools served by Coastline ROP. All ROP Career Specialists send their Registration lists in at the same day and time, and the class rosters are filled as the lists are received. Registration is done on a first come, first served basis. Seniors have first priority, followed by Juniors and Sophomores.
Q: Do After Bell ROP classes count for graduation?
A: Yes, After Bell ROP classes count towards graduation. Most classes allow you to receive 5 credits per semester, but some internship and advanced classes can earn you 10 credits! After Bell ROP classes are added to your Aeries class schedule about 2 weeks after the first class, and you receive grades at the quarter and semester (No Progress Report Grades). For Summer Classes, courses will be added to Student Transcripts during the Fall Semester.
Q: Is there an age requirement for After Bell ROP classes?
A: Yes, for most classes, students must be at least 15 1/2 years old and a sophomore to register. Most of the internship courses require students to be at least 16 years old. Some classes are only open to Seniors or students who are close to their 18th birthday due to course requirements or requirements for certification testing that students are eligible for. Age and Grade requirements are listed in the course schedule under "Prerequisites".
Q: Can I sign up for a class with a class period listed next to it?
A: You can see your counselor to sign up for an In-Bell class with your counselor, but only if it is held at University.
Q: What do the blue boxed letters/numbers next to the course name or section stand for?
A: Here is a key for the abbreviations found in the ROP course schedule:
- A: Adults may enroll
- AC: Articulated Course (for more information about articulated courses, please visit http://coastlinerop.net/articulation-agreements.asp)
- Adv: Advanced class
- AT: Assessment Test required (usually for Adult students)
- C: Closed
- NC: No Credit
- UC: UC/Cal State Approved Course (to recieve UC/CSU credit, students must complete a full year (2 semesters) of the course and earn a grade of 70% or better)
- 5: Class is worth 5 credits
- 10: Class is worth 10 credits
