Hello, and welcome to 5th grade!!!
My name is Dan Carroll, and I'm excited to be BACK in 5th grade. I spent the first 13 years of my teaching career teaching 5th grade, then taught 4th for 9 years. I am an upper grade teacher at heart, and I can't wait to begin the fantastic journey known as fifth grade.
I'm originally from Palm Springs, CA but have been living in Orange County for about a decade now. I'm a husband and father to my 10 year old twins, Jack and Taylor. When I'm not teaching you can find me traveling with my family, walking my dog Duke, coaching soccer, trying new restaurants, watching movies, or spending time outdoors.
My class motto is "TCB" - take care of business. I truly believe that the higher the expectation you have for your students, the higher the results. I try to foster indpenendence as much as I can. When students see themselves do things, accomplish things, surpass challenges, and take the wheel themselves - their confidence and self esteem grow exponentially. So I try to have them find solutions, tackle challenges, and "take care" of whatever it is they have control over. Learning, like life, is a fluid and every-changing process, with ups, downs, and stamina required to sustain the journey. It should also be fun, engaging, and memorable and that's what we're going to do this year. So here's to a great year in the last year of elementary school - let's do this! ~Mr. Carroll
