Restorative Practices, SEL, PBIS, Calm Classroom, Trauma-Informed Practices

Restorative Practices

Using restorative language, strategies and practices at all three tiers can build relationships, a sense of belonging, connectedness and community.

Social-Emotional Learning

Intentionally teaching & embedding the CASEL 5 SEL competencies within academic instruction for every student can increase prosocial skills, executive function capacity, empathy and enhances higher level critical thinking skills.

Implementing & designing a multi-tiered system of support for positive behavior, positive school climate, and positive school culture can decrease problem behavior and increase academic achievement.

Calm Classroom/ Mindfulness

Using mindfulness techniques & strategies at Tier 1 can help students and teachers develop self-awareness, mental focus and emotional resilience.

Trauma-Informed Practices

Many of the challenging behavior seen inside classrooms stem from stress or trauma in students’ lives outside of school. Trauma, both physical and emotional, can alter a young person’s brain functions, which impacts learning and behavior. Students don’t need to stumble through emotional minefields...we can provide trauma-informed practices to support them.

The goal of #RSPCT focuses on building a positive school climate, a culture of collective responsibility and a community that thrives because of a sincere sense of belonging and connectedness. Learning is optimized at high levels because all key stakeholders feel safe, welcomed, empowered and intrigued by engaging instruction, meaningful relationships and authentic academic experiences.
