Hello! I am a PhD student in Second Language Studies from Indiana University.

Originally from Chengdu, China, I completed my bachelor's degree in Japanese Language at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. After two years of study, I spent one year studying abroad at Utsunomiya University in Japan, supported by the Japanese Government Scholarship (MEXT). It was also during my exchange studies that I developed my interest in applied linguistics.

I continued my journey in applied linguistics at the University of Edinburgh, where I discovered my passion for language attrition. I was fascinated by how and why learners can lose languages in a non-pathological way, and more importantly, what we can do to maintain the languages that we once made huge efforts to acquire. 

Following my graduation from Edinburgh, I taught English and Japanese in China before starting my PhD at Indiana University.  At IU, I work on foreign language attrition, neurolinguistics, and learner corpora.

When I'm not doing research, I enjoy learning new languages, good music and art. I started learning Korean two years ago and loved it! I also plan to pick up my elementary-level French one day :)
