Aspiring Event Manager in Tourism | Career Services Intern + Peer Health Educator at IU Indianapolis
I am a student at IU Indianapolis majoring in Event Tourism Management. With extensive on-campus experience as an Events Management Intern and in coordinating events through Career Services, I have also taken on leadership roles in philanthropy and fundraising initiatives. Through internships and campus jobs, I have developed strong event planning and management skills. After graduation, I aspire to pursue a career in event management, focusing on convention planning or concert tour management.
Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to take the CliftonStrengths Assessment multiple times through various classes and my scholarship program. I find this assessment very valuable in understanding personal strengths and how they shape my approach to work and relationships. My top five strengths are Woo, Adaptability, Strategic, Positivity, and Activator.
Woo reflects my ability to build connections, meet new people, and engage others. While I have a speech impediment and sometimes struggle with breaking the ice, my involvement in campus organizations, internships, and past jobs has helped me develop this skill and expand my network. Adaptability means I go with the flow and focus on the present moment. While I sometimes struggle with change, meditation has helped me embrace flexibility and take things one step at a time.
Strategic involves finding alternative solutions when faced with challenges. In my roles as a Peer Health Educator and a fraternity leader, I have encountered roadblocks, such as scheduling conflicts or activity restrictions, and worked around them by adjusting plans and finding creative solutions. Positivity reflects my enthusiasm and ability to stay optimistic, even during stressful times. I find motivation in looking forward to exciting opportunities and surrounding myself with positive people. Activator means I take action quickly and enjoy getting things done. I like to check tasks off my list as soon as possible, whether it’s completing assignments early or tackling responsibilities efficiently.
Overall, these strengths align well with my experiences and leadership roles, helping me grow both personally and professionally.
