IUPUI is one of 12 universities who used tools developed by the Institute for Democracy in Higher Education at Tufts University to assess our campus climate for political learning and democratic engagement. Through a series of focus groups and dialogues with students, faculty, and staff, a number of recommendations were developed to improve the campus’ culture around social cohesion, diversity as realized practice, pervasive political discussions, students’ shared institutional responsibility, and political action.
