My undergraduate capstone research project, Dental Morphology: A Comparison Between White and Black Americans, conducted under the guidance of Dr. Audrey Ricke.
Before diving into the paper, here’s some context:
Who: This project was part of my capstone work at Indiana University - Indianapolis, supervised by Dr. Audrey Ricke, with data contributions from Dr. Jeremy Wilson (Bethel Cemetery) and others.
What: A forensic anthropology study comparing dental traits in historic and modern U.S. populations to assess ancestry estimation methods.
Where/When: Analyzed skeletal remains from cemeteries in Indianapolis (Bethel, Greenlawn) and Dallas (Freedman’s), alongside 20th-century dental casts.
Why: To refine ancestry identification in forensic cases and understand how population mixing impacts dental morphology.
